As can be seen from the above, the English and Mandarin versions of this section of lesson 14 express different meanings\u2014the Mandarin version actually means something like \u201cAs long as we have God in our hearts, it doesn\u2019t matter how we worship God.\u201d Apparently, it was decided that the English and Mandarin fields have different needs in this regard. How do this expression\u2019s morphemes<\/a> work together to produce this effective meaning? The literal meaning of the morphemes is \u201c{there is not} {that which} {is said to be}\u201d, which kind of has the flavour of \u201cthere is nothing to speak of\u201d. It\u2019s not hard to see then, why this expression effectively means \u201cdoes not matter | is indifferent; does not care\u201d.<\/p>\n

Playing It Cool?<\/h4>\n
