The new format of the Enjoy Life Forever!<\/i> book, which incorporates post-paper technologies like video, enables the inclusion of a type of content that past publications used for Bible studies could not include\u2014life stories. For example, the video<\/a> for Lesson 04, point 5 of the Enjoy Life Forever!<\/i> book, entitled My Search for the True God<\/i>, contains the life story of Soten Yoeun, who endured many hardships but eventually found the true God Jehovah.<\/p>\n

In the Mandarin version of this video, the expression \u201cr\u00e9nw\u00f9 sh\u0113ngp\u00edng<\/i><\/span>\n((r\u00e9n\u00b7w\u00f9\nperson \u00b7 thing \u2192 [personage]<\/span>\n\u4eba\u7269)\n(sh\u0113ng\u00b7p\u00edng\nlife \u00b7 {(being) level} \u2192 [whole life]<\/span>\n\u751f\u5e73)\n\u2192<\/span> [life story]<\/span>)<\/span>\u201d is used to correspond with the expression \u201clife story\u201d that is used in the English version of the video. For example, \u201cSh\u00e8ngj\u012bng<\/i><\/span>\n(Sh\u00e8ng\u00b7j\u012bng\nHoly \u00b7 Scriptures \u2192<\/span> [Bible]<\/span>\n\u5723\u7ecf\n\u8056\u7d93<\/span>)<\/span>\n\nr\u00e9nw\u00f9<\/i><\/span>\n(r\u00e9n\u00b7w\u00f9\nperson \u00b7 thing \u2192<\/span> [character]<\/span>\n\u4eba\u7269)<\/span>\u201d has been used to correspond with \u201cBible character\u201d, that is, a person depicted in the Bible. What, though, shall we make of \u201csh\u0113ngp\u00edng<\/i><\/span>\n(sh\u0113ng\u00b7p\u00edng\nlife \u00b7 {(being) level} \u2192<\/span> [[one\u2019s] whole life]<\/span>\n\u751f\u5e73)<\/span>\u201d? While \u201csh\u0113ng<\/i><\/span>\n({give birth to}\/{was given birth to}; {give life to} | grow | exist; live | {[is] living}; {[is] alive} | {[is] unripe} | {[is] raw}; {[is] uncooked} | {[is] unfamiliar}; {[is] strange} | {[is] unprocessed}; {[is] crude} | existence; life; living | {be afflicted with}; get; have | very; keenly; much | pupil; student; scholar | [n suf<\/i> used in names of occupations]<\/span>\n\u751f)<\/span>\u201d can mean many different things, here it obviously means \u201clife\u201d, that is, a life or lifetime. It\u2019s less obvious, though, how \u201cp\u00edng<\/i><\/span>\n({[being] flat, level, even} [\u2192 [[being] peaceful; calm | peace | [being] equal; fair; just | standard; level]] | {make [to be] flat, level, even} [\u2192 [make peace; pacify; calm down]]<\/span>\n\u5e73)<\/span>\u201d fits into this expression.<\/p>\n

From a negative point of view, this could involve passing judgment or competitively comparing achievements as if life were but a game. However, from a more positive and charitable point of view, considering one\u2019s \u201csh\u0113ngp\u00edng<\/i><\/span>\n(sh\u0113ng\u00b7p\u00edng\nlife \u00b7 {(being) level} \u2192<\/span> [[one\u2019s] whole life]<\/span>\n\u751f\u5e73)<\/span>\u201d could involve recognition of what one was able to accomplish over the course of one\u2019s life.<\/p>\n
