\u201cone after another households one after another doors\u201d.<\/p>\n<h4>Blasts from the Past<\/h4>\n<p>Chinese field \u201cold-timers\u201d may remember that this wasn\u2019t always the expression used to translate \u201chouse-to-house\u201d. Expressions\" href=\"http:\/\/tiandi.info\/adjuster-wol\/rte\/\"><i>Referenced Theocratic Expressions (RTE)<\/i><\/a> resource says: \u201cfrom house to house (old translation); Acts 5:42 NWT(2001-C 1984-E, 2013 not checked) +pinyin &#8220;from house to house&#8221;; w11 2\/1 p.13 \u223c\u4f20\u9053 &#8220;door-to-door preaching&#8221;. Without the hanzi, it seems this is not recognisable to most Chinese; one suggested \u6bcf\u5bb6\u90fd\u53bb (m\u011bi ji\u0101 d\u014du q\u00f9); 2019-NWT uses \u6328\u5bb6\u6328\u6237 \u0101iji\u0101&#8217;\u0101ih\u00f9 (which is in ABC [the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/ABC_Chinese%E2%80%93English_Dictionary\" title=\"ABC Chinese\u2013English Dictionary - Wikipedia\"><i>ABC Chinese-English Dictionary<\/i><\/a>])\u201d<\/li>\n<li>\u201c<strong><span onclick=\"plus(this)\"><i>Zh\u00fah\u00f9<\/i><\/span><span class=\"plusinfo\" onclick=\"minus(this)\">\n(Zh\u00fa\u00b7h\u00f9\n<span class=\"lit\">{one by one} \u00b7 doors \u2192<\/span> <span class=\"mt\">[door[-\/ ]to[-\/ ]door]<\/span>\n\u9010\u6237\n<span class=\"trad\">\u9010\u6236<\/span>)<\/span><\/strong>\u201d on its own has been used in the past.\n<ul>\n<li><i>RTE<\/i> says about this expression: \u201chouse-to-house; w08 7\/15 1st std article title (dict.cn &#8220;door to door&#8221;). In 2009 songbook song 101 as part of \u9010\u5bb6\u9010\u6237 (hence wtl09 doesn&#8217;t find this occurrence if you search for just \u9010\u5bb6)\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Sticking with False \u201cPerfection\u201d vs. Progress<\/h4>\n<p>While the older expressions mentioned above are not technically <em>wrong<\/em> or incorrect, the currently used expression \u201c<span onclick=\"plus(this)\"><i>\u0101iji\u0101\u2010\u0101ih\u00f9<\/i><\/span><span class=\"plusinfo\" onclick=\"minus(this)\">\n((\u0101i\u00b7ji\u0101\n<span class=\"lit\">{one after another} \u00b7 households<\/span>\n\u6328\u5bb6)\u2010(\u0101i\u00b7h\u00f9\n<span class=\"lit\">{one after another} \u00b7 doors<\/span>\n\u6328\u6237\n<span class=\"trad\">\u6328\u6236<\/span>)\n<span class=\"lit\">\u2192<\/span> <span class=\"mt\">[door[-\/ ]to[-\/ ]door; house[-\/ ]to[-\/ ]house]<\/span>)<\/span>\u201d is the best one the organization knows of at this time for translating the English expression \u201chouse-to-house\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Some criticize Jehovah\u2019s organization for sometimes changing rather than somehow being completely perfect from the beginning, but <em>change is required for progress<\/em>. The alternative for any imperfect humans in this system of things is to continue being less correct, less good than they could be, e.g. continuing to believe in hellfire, the Trinity, etc., and continuing to meddle in politics, to support the wars of human nations, etc. We can be thankful then that Jehovah\u2019s organization continues to pursue better and better ways of thinking, speaking (and translating), and doing.
