These are theo. Mandarin course materials that were prepared in Wilmington, Delaware, USA. The textbook is an updated version of the Philadelphia Mandarin course textbook. The current version of the Wilmington course textbook is dated August 22, 2013.
The one who created the course made an instructor’s version of the textbook (containing the quiz in lesson 12) and a student’s version (which does not contain the quiz). The page numbers line up between the two versions.
Thanks go out to those who produced these materials and made them available for other Mandarin-learners to benefit from.
The PDF files linked to below with “LN-A” (“Link Navigation-Annotation”) in their names have been enriched and fortified with bookmarks, links, and annotation support.
PDF bookmarks and links work like web hyperlinks, immediately taking you to the destination linked to when they are clicked or tapped on. This capability makes the files much easier to navigate around in, especially on mobile devices such as the iPhone, the iPod touch, and the iPad. (See the PDF Link Navigation page for more information, including a video screen recording of the PDF bookmarks and links in action.)
Note especially that in each PDF file linked to below, the headings in the Table of Contents and in the Index act as links to the indicated sections of the file. The headings of those sections in turn act as links back to the Table of Contents.
PDF annotation is the ability to add notes or highlighting to PDFs, analogous to how margin notes, underlining, etc. can be added to paper printouts. (See the PDF Annotation (Notes & Highlighting) page for more information.)
To download and open the files on an iPad or an iPhone/iPod touch using the app Documents:
To download the files on a PC or a Mac:
The Portable Document Format (PDF) files can be opened using the Adobe Reader program, version 7 or above, although I recommend that you use the latest version. This program is free to download, and it runs on a variety of platforms, including Macs. (macOS’ Preview program may be used as well.) This button links to the download page for Adobe Reader:
The audio files are in MP3 format, and they can be played on desktop and laptop computers using various apps.
Check the Links News blog (news feed, Twitter) for news regarding updates to this resource, and also for news regarding other resources prepared by our fellow workers in the Chinese fields. You may also find it interesting to check out the tiandi.info blog (news feed, Twitter), which is about various things related to the Chinese fields. (Note: The original login info still works for the parts of tiandi.info that require it, but now you can also log in using the login info that is used on 3lines.org, except with tiandi in front of the first item.)
